Hakeem J. Scott, known professionally as Jerron Scott, was born on November 19, 1995, in Camden, New Jersey. At the age of two, he moved with his family to North Philadelphia. After brief stays in North and South Philly, the family settled in Southwest Philadelphia, where he spent the next 23 years navigating the complexities of urban life.

Raised by a single mother, Scott grew up in a household marked by sacrifice, love, and struggle. His father was present until age twelve — a loss that would impact him deeply. After his father’s passing, Scott began dealing with grief in silence, which eventually translated into behavioral challenges and street involvement.

Scott found early creative outlets in music and performance. He began playing the flute in third grade, sang at family functions, and engaged in sports like soccer and basketball — though his connection to music always remained strongest.

Adolescence, Struggles & Turning Points

After his father passed, Scott began using marijuana and spending more time in the streets. His school attendance dropped, and by ninth grade, he was placed on truancy watch. Though he briefly complied with school requirements, he soon slipped back into old habits. What shifted his mindset was attending a vocational high school with a culinary program. It gave him purpose, hands-on experience, and a reason to care about his future. By senior year, Scott made the conscious decision to return to his neighborhood school, where he ultimately graduated — a pivotal achievement amid ongoing personal challenges.

Outside of school, Scott was building something powerful: “Endless nights were spent outside with my friends — smoking, rapping, freestyling — just expressing whatever was on our hearts.” It was in these street corner cyphers that his style took shape.

Scott also turned to poetry as a way of coping with pain, trauma, and self-reflection. His poems later evolved into lyrics — sharp, vivid, and emotionally layered.

Musical Career

At age 15, Scott recorded his first song, “My Team,” with his friend D1ff3renc3, sparking the formation of their group Papercahasers. The song marked the beginning of his professional path and helped him realize the healing power of music.

Since then, Scott has consistently released music independently, building his brand with raw, story-driven tracks. His sound fuses classic East Coast hip-hop elements with modern trap and melodic introspection. The subject matter often explores pain, street survival, emotional trauma, and spiritual growth.

T.H.E – The Label

In 2023, Scott founded his own independent music label: T.H.E — an acronym rooted in personal meaning and artistic vision. The label represents authenticity, independence, and empowerment, offering him full creative control and a platform to potentially support future artists from his community.

Albums

Vintage (2018) – A reflective debut documenting his early life, identity, and emotional struggles.

T.H.E. Field (2023) – A gritty, unapologetic project grounded in street life, brotherhood, and survival in Southwest Philly.

Highs and Lows: Antidote to Chaos (2025) – A forthcoming introspective album that dives into mental health, duality, and finding peace amid internal and external chaos.

Artistry and Influences

Jerron Scott’s artistry is shaped by some of hip-hop’s most iconic voices. His early influences include DMX, Jay-Z, and Nas, all of whom helped mold his lyrical honesty, street wisdom, and emotional depth.

From his hometown, Scott draws influence from Joey Jihad, Reed Dollaz, Meek Mill, and Quilly Millz — Philly battle legends known for their intensity, delivery, and storytelling. Their raw approach to lyricism inspired Scott’s own voice: blunt, reflective, and rooted in lived experience.

He also credits poetry and spoken word as major creative outlets, especially in his teen years. Many of his songs originate from poems — giving his music its intimate and confessional tone.

Personal Life

Scott continues to live by the lessons instilled during his years in Southwest Philly. Whether he’s making music, writing poetry, or supporting other artists, he sees himself as a storyteller and builder — someone who turned struggle into substance.

His life journey represents transformation: from grief and streets to vision and independence. Through music and entrepreneurship, he hopes to inspire others who feel unseen.
